The Aral Sea is a lake with no outflow, in Central Asia. There still exist the former Northern and Western part. The increasing desiccation of the lake since 1960 represents one of the world’s largest man-made environmental disasters. With about 68,000 square kilometers in extent originally was the Aral Sea used to be the fourth largest lake in the world.
